In 1993, he worked at the department of the United Nations and International Organizations in charge of health and narcotics issues. Two years later, in 1995, he joined the Embassy of France in United Arab Emirates as First secretary. In 1999, he was appointed first counselor at the France Embassy in Syria. He returned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director in charge of the economic affairs in the United Nations and International Organizations Department in 2004. In 2005, he was appointed Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Michel Barnier, in charge of North Africa, Middle East and United Nations affairs. In 2006, he was confirmed in this post by the new incoming Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy. From 2006 to 2009, he served as deputy permanent representative as the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in Geneva.
