Managerial Decision Making (MDM)

Surveys Overview--Previous Years, to be updated

Why We Take/Do Surveys As we have learned from Day 1 in the course, our intuition is not always correct "out of the box".  By demonstrating in surveys that we often make predictable decision errors, the hope it that the feedback, given in a memorable, vivid fashion will help us to debias our judgments and decisions in future versions of a similar problem scenario that we will almost surely encounter.

How to do the Surveys: Surveys are designed to test your intuition, not our brute analytical skills.  Rarely if ever will you be asked to calculate, and if you are, you should assume that you are being asked for a "quick and dirty", "back of the envelope" answer.  Do not overthink the answer, respond as if you are in a hurry.  On the other hand, respond correctly to the best of your ability, do not answer strategically what you think the professor is looking for, even though you would not have chosen it yourself.

Contests vs. Questions: You will notice that some survey questions are called "Contests".  In these cases, there will be a winner tabulated from the responses.  You should try to win.  There will be appropriate prizes for the winner or winners.
