Overview of the Tuck South Asia Club
- Enable members and South Asian students to transition into life in the US and / or life at Tuck.
- Enhance learning and career experience of members through focused through focused counseling and mentoring
- Develop a network of Tuck Students and Alumni who share an interest in South Asian
- Raise awareness about Tuck in South Asia
- Promote awareness about the South Asian culture and contribute to the community by celebrating Diwali, Holi and organizing a South Asian Tuck Tails.
- Collaborate with the International Club on the International Forum
- Raise awareness in the Tuck community about business opportunities in South Asia
Detailed Agenda for 2008-2009
Academic Activities:
- Advice incoming students about: course load, time management, choice of electives and waivers, need for Pre-Enrollment Program (a.k.a. Math Camp), grades policy
- Provide incoming students with list of books and options on buying the books.
Career Related Activities:
- Assist in the process of increasing general awareness, making career changes, and help make career choices
- Discuss networking as applicable to South Asians.
- Mentorship: Assign Individual mentors
- Assist with Cover Letters, CVs
- Organize Industry panels
- Help understand interviewing best practices
- Introduce the various resources: Career Leader, Vault, Wet Feet, Feldberg / CRC Libraries.
Social Activities:
- Organize Tuck-wide parties on the occasion of Diwali and Holi
- Organize social events like South Asian Tuck Tails
- Organize a T'10 welcome event
- Organize T'09 Farewell event
- Organize the Indian table at the ASW International Food Festival
- Organize the Indian table at the International Night
- Organize movie shows
Externally-focused and awareness-building activities:
- Organize the Annual Tuck India Business Conference.
- Organize lectures and panels to raise awareness about business in South Asia
- Reach out to South Asian Alumni
- Reach out to business and schools in South Asia with respect to exchange programs, competitions and admissions
- Organize India Trek - for business and tourism
- Collaborate with South Asia Clubs across business schools
- Raise Media Awareness about Tuck in South Asia
- Reach out to Indian American Community
