You have the option to buy some books in India at a cheaper price. This is the list based on courses conducted in 07-08. | 3. What sort of clothes should I carry to Hanover? | |
Typically you don't get very good winter clothes in India. Hence, most people end up buying the important winter-ware from here itself. You can find stuff across various price ranges. Shirts, trousers etc. can be very expensive in the US, unless you know how to find bargain sales. So you might want to bring a good stock of such stuff. Getting suits from India might be a good idea. The price difference for stiched suits between US and India is substancial. A classic 2-button or 3-button suits are good choices for the recruitment process. |

| 9. What do I need to do about taxes? | |
In the year that you are joining Tuck, you would most probably be an alien in the US. This means that you would have to file for taxes in the country that you are a resident of (which in most of your cases would be India). However, you would also have to file for taxes in the US. Technically, subsequently, you need to file for taxes in only one country. However, it is a best practice to file a return in both US and India, even if you do not have non-taxable income or you are not a resident. This just helps you avoid hassles in the future. When you come to Tuck, the international office provides you access to a software, at a very nominal fee, that helps you prepare your tax returns. |
