Recruiting - Timeline
September - October
- Start reading up on the industry.
The Career Resources library is a great source of
information, as well as individual firm web pages;
- Read the Wall Street Journal and/or the Financial Times every day and Investment Dealers' Digest, the Economist, and/or The Deal every week;
- Attend firm briefings and interact with their recruiting representatives (often Tuck
alums). Hang on to the following types of materials: (i) league
table rankings, (ii) marketing materials, (iii) business cards, (iv) news
clippings. Extra copies of this information is housed in the Career Resources
library but it is worthwhile to start your own file for firms in which you
are particularly interested;
- Meet with
2nd years and ask them for advice and input. Also hit up
your classmates that worked on Wall Street before coming to Tuck;
- Attend Finance Club events;
- Finalize resumes for Resume Book;
- Study hard; and
- Attend the
Finance Club Wall Street trip.
November - December
- Continue
to read up on the industry;
- Send resume and cover letters to firms;
- Find a small group of people to offer you comments on resumes, cover letters, interviewing,
etc. Don't be afraid to give each other mock interviews.
January - February
- Make sure you are up to date on specific firms and current events effecting the
financial industry;
- Attend additional firm events and interact with their recruiting representatives;
- Finish preparation for interviews;
- Do mock interviews!
