Wrap up Discussion: Policy Prescriptions to Encourage Economic Growth
Friday, February 11, 3:15 - 4:30 p.m.
Description:
Over the last three years the traditional role of government involvement in the private sector has dramatically changed. In the near future, the government will be making decisions on issues as diverse as free trade to health care to tax policy, and, more broadly, on the proper role of government involvement in the economy that will all have a serious impact on the business community for years to come. In light of these changes, what types of levers should government use to promote future economic growth? Should the government take a more active role in the economy, such as by subsidizing or supporting specific industries? Or should the government adopt a more laissez-faire approach?
