Welcome to the John Barleycorn Society

JOHN BAR-LEY-CORN

a personification of barley used in malt liquor itself, or of any intoxicating liquor.

For countless years the Tuck community has been deprived of its infatuation with beer.  All year long the Tuck community works hard and what do they have to wind down with at the end of the day?  Wine?  Scotch?  Fine spirits indeed, but some  people want a cold frosty beer to savor as they reminisce over the week and look forward to the weekend.  We here at the John Barleycorn Society believe that it is time for this "prohibition" era to end.  Allow the John Barleycorn Society to quench your thirst for knowledge about the beer industry, your thirst for information about home brewing, and your undying thirst for quality crafted beers from national breweries and a vast array of unique local micro-breweries.

Who is the John Barleycorn Society?

The John Barleycorn Society (JBS) was formed to develop the Tuck community’s appreciation of craftsmanship and business of producing high-quality beers.  The JBS offers a wonderful opportunity for the Tuck community to sample many different beers in a variety of settings.  Be it on a brewery tour or a All members of the Tuck community are welcome to join.

First, the Society will increase member understanding of beer-making techniques and beer styles through experiential learning and expert tutorials.

Second, the Society will promote a deeper understanding of the business challenges and opportunities faced by brew masters and owners through brewery tours and on-campus visits.
