Getting Here

By Air Three airports serve the Hanover area.

Manchester airport is located about 80 miles southeast of Hanover. Rental cars are available at the airport, and the drive to Hanover takes approximately 90 minutes. The Vermont Transit bus company provides transportation from the Manchester Airport to Hanover. Buses wait outside the airline terminal to transport you to the Vermont Transit station, where you purchase a ticket and then continue to Hanover.

Boston's Logan airport (BOS) is located about 120 miles southeast of Hanover. Dartmouth Coach and Vermont Transit both provide transportation from Logan to Hanover. Both offer express bus service and if the schedules work out well, take only a little more time than driving. For more information, see "By Bus" directions below.

Lebanon regional airport provides air serve to New York Laguardia (LEB) on small commuter planes. The airport is only 10 miles from Hanover. Take a taxi to Hanover and ask the driver to take you to your hotel or the circle in front of the Tuck School on the Dartmouth campus. If there is no cab waiting at the airport, call for one at the pay phone where the cab numbers are listed.

By Car

From Boston take I-93 north to Concord, New Hampshire, then I-89 north to Exit 18 [Lebanon-Hanover]. Bear right at the exit, and follow Route 120 north to Hanover, which is approximately six miles. This route will bring you into Hanover past the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (not visible from the road). At the traffic light with a Mobil gas station on your right, the road forks; bear right. At the second light beyond this fork, turn left onto Route 10A (E. Wheelock Street). Proceed straight through a signal light passing the Dartmouth Green (a large open area) on your right and the Hanover Inn on your left. At the bottom of the hill, turn right immediately before the bridge onto Tuck Drive and then turn left into the Ledyard Canoe Club Parking Lot. Follow the signs and the balloons up the staircase at the far end of the parking lot to the Tuck School.

From Manchester, New Hampshire, take I-293 south to I-93 north, then I-89 north and then to Exit 18 as above. (Directions from Boston)

From New Yorktake I-95 north to I-91 north, or I-684 north and I-84 east to Hartford, Connecticut, then I-91 north to Vermont Exit 13 [Norwich-Hanover]. Bear right at the exit and cross the Connecticut River. Turn left immediately after the bridge onto Tuck Drive and then turn left into the Ledyard Canoe Club Parking Lot. Follow the signs and the balloons up the staircase at the far end of the parking lot to Tuck School.

From Montreal take I-89 south to I-91 north and then to Vermont Exit 13 as above. By Public Transportation

By Bus Vermont Transit (802-295-3011) has several buses from various points arriving daily in White River Junction, Vt., with connections to the Dartmouth campus. Call for information. Dartmouth Coach (603-448-2800) offers daily service between the Dartmouth campus and Boston's South Station and Logan Airport and occasional service between Dartmouth and the Manchester, N.H., airport. Call for information.

By Train
By Train Amtrak's "Vermonter" service from Washington and New York arrives daily in nearby White River Junction, Vt. Consult your nearest Amtrak agent for information.
