  • Growth beyond IT and Outsourcing: Mapping India’s Future

India, synonymous with strategic off-shoring until recently, has gradually grown into a market in its own right. With GDP growth more than double that of the United States and the United Kingdom during the past decade, and with forecast continued real annual growth of almost seven percent, India is one of the world’s most promising and fastest-growing economies. However, this rapid growth of the Indian economy has come with its own share of challenges, including mixed performance results of multinationals in the Indian market, sustainability of growth and managing infrastructure bottlenecks in India. This panel will address both future opportunities and challenges to India’s growth in different industry segments.

  • Looking outward: India’s Progression in the New World Order

While India is one of the world’s most promising and fastest-growing economies, it is no longer just a destination for foreign investors looking for better returns. In 2006, outward M&A transactions by Indian companies totaled $23 billion, more than five times the 2005 total and approximately 20 times the annual total in 2000! Tata’s acquisition of the Ford divisions Jaguar and Land Rover is a case in point. This panel will explore the trends in flows of capital to and from India.
