Executive Vice President, Deere & Company
H.J. Markley is Executive Vice President, Worldwide Parts Services, Global Supply Management and Logistics, Enterprise Information Technology, and Corporate Communications at Deere & Company, a position he’s held since September 2007. In his role, Markley is responsible for four enterprise-wide global functions: parts, supply management and logistics, information technology, and communications.
Markley joined Deere & Company in 1974 as a factory auditor. He has held a number of management positions at various John Deere facilities, including Davenport, Dubuque, and Waterloo. In 1996, Markley was appointed Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, for the Worldwide Construction Equipment Division. He was named Senior Vice President, Worldwide Human Resources, in February 2000. In August 2001 Markley was named President, Agricultural Division - North America, Australia, Asia and Global Tractor and Implement Sourcing. In January 2006, Markley was named President, Agricultural Division - Europe, Africa, South America and Global Harvesting Equipment Sourcing at Deere & Company.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Markley has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the College of Wooster and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Hanover. Markley is also a member of the board of overseers for the Tuck School of Business, and also serves on the board of trustees for Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.
