Tuck India Business Conference Examines Business Opportunities Amid the Country's Explosive Growth
The second annual Tuck India Business Conference on May 9th brought together business leaders to explore topics ranging from the development of India's consumer market to its role in the global economy. The keynote speakers were Arun K. Nanda, executive director and president of the infrastructure development sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Ron Somers, president of the U.S.-India Business Council. The lunchtime address was given by Lutz Goedde T'97, the deputy director of global development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Conference also featured an Indian luncheon and a carnatic and jazz/world fusion concert by Prasanna & Group. Conference sponsors were John Deere, PepsiCo, The Parthenon Group, The Khosla Family Fund, and The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College. Tuck Global Healthcare Conference Focuses on the Emergence of Biogenerics
The second annual Tuck Global Healthcare Conference on April 11th focused on the emergence of biogenerics in the biopharmaceutical industry. Dr. C. Everett Koop, former U.S. Surgeon General and founder of the C. Everett Koop Institute at Dartmouth, presented opening remarks. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Steven Gillis, Founder of Immunex Corporation and managing partner of ARCH Venture Partners. Panelists from the FDA, AARP, the biotech and biogenerics industries, and more debated the appropriate regulatory framework for biogenerics and the impact of biogenerics on patient health and costs.

Dialogues on Europe Brings the Continent to Tuck
Organized by the Tuck International Club and the Center for International Business, a series of events brought a taste of Europe to Tuck this spring. The series kicked off with a talk by Rick Bertasi T'88, who runs one of Johnson Controls' major business units in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Other speakers included David Calhoun, Chairman, Executive Board & CEO of Dutch-American company Neilsen; and Guillermo Ansaldo T'89, General Manager of Telefónica de España. Other events rounding out the series included a Europe-themed cocktail party and a Country Chat on France.

Talks Spotlight Islam and Islamic Finance
In an effort to provide an opportunity for the Tuck community to learn more about Islam, the Tuck International Club and the Center for International Business featured two talks on the subject this spring:
Dr. Kevin Reinhart, Professor of Islamic Religious Studies at Dartmouth College, led an informal discussion with students about Islam, Muslims, and what they believe on April 21st.
Dr. Ibrahim A. Warde, Adjunct Professor of International Business at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and world-renowned author discussed Islamic finance on April 29th.
Students Launch Africa Initiative
