In today’s economy, our clothes may be made from Uzbek cotton, sewn in Indonesia and then shelved at The Gap. The coffee we buy might start with Nicaraguan farmers but eventually ends up in the coffee pots at Byrne. During these transitions, how do multinational firms balance the pursuit of profits with labor and environmental concerns, and should they be doing so? Is “doing well by doing good” a simple myth, or is it reality for today’s global businesses?

Beyond the BRIC countries, what are the next frontiers for economic growth in the coming decades? CIB Highlights: Africa shifts the focus from aid to trade as we examine business success in the sub-Saharan region.
The CIB and the Tuck Africa Club will build on the visit of Enase Okonedo, Dean and member of the Finance faculty, Lagos Business School, Lagos, Nigeria, to organize a series of events highlighting business opportunities and challenges in sub-Saharan Africa.
