Information for Clients

Tuck Global Consultancy is an excellent way for companies to reduce overhead while maintaining strategic initiatives.

How the Program Works

Organizations facing external challenges or looking to take advantage of international business opportunities often do not have the time, budget, or human resources to take action. Tuck Global Consultancy (TGC) teams can provide cost-effective solutions. A typical TGC team spends over 1,000 person-hours on each client engagement, provides clients with in-depth analysis on discrete topics, and can do all this work AT COST. Here's how the program works:

  1. Corporate clients engage teams of Tuck MBA candidates to complete consulting assignments in international venues.
  2. Projects are conducted twice a year. Summer Track runs from mid-June through late September.  Winter Track runs from early October through mid-January.
  3. Projects are short-term and highly focused, offering immediate solutions to specific operational and business development challenges.
  4. Project teams are typically composed of six to eight members averaging 30 years of age, with six or more years of relevant work experience. All participants are in their final year of the Tuck MBA program.  They are experienced international managers representing over 20 countries and have multiple language competencies.  Teams work under the supervision of Team Advisors who have extensive international consulting backgrounds.
  5. Projects cover a period of 13-15 weeks, divided into three phases. In Phase One (four to six weeks), the teams work with clients to refine project scope, confirm deliverables, develop project process, and begin secondary research.  In Phase Two (three weeks), teams work full time conducting primary research on the ground in the international venue(s). Teams report to clients at the end of this period with executive summaries of findings and presentations to overseas-based management. In Phase Three (four to six weeks), teams complete full reports and present to client management.

Tuck Global Consultancy engagements are not-for-profit. All expenses are billed to clients at cost. No profit or overhead is included. The cost of a project is $35,300 plus travel expenses. Travel expenses are based on Tuck's travel policy, which is structured to keep costs to an absolute minimum, consistent with safe and effective operations.

Travel Policy

The following are policies and procedures for student and Team Advisor travel in connection with the Tuck Global Consultancy program. Tuck undertakes to provide maximum possible documentation and backup receipts.

  1. Students travel economy class, while Team Advisors travel business class. When booking flights, Tuck keeps costs at the lowest level possible, consistent with both safety and tight schedules.
  2. Students and Team Advisors receive a per diem allowance based on US State Department rates to cover all meals and personal incidental expenses during business travel. Student per diems are a fraction of those governed by the US State Department.
  3. Teams stay in good, moderately-priced business hotels, chosen to meet the rates approved under the US State Department per diem requirements for the city of assignment. Student rooms are single occupancy.
  4. Clients are billed for all other relevant costs, such as additional inter- or intra-country travel, office space, and visas, if required.
