Spring Break March 2012 trip to Brazil

Tuck students are invited to Brazil for Spring Break 2012 (arrive Mar 8, depart Mar 16). Non-refundable deposit due by Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 12 p.m.

** It’s not a mini course; it’s more like a business-casual trip tailored specifically to MBA students who are eager to learn what makes this emerging economy different from China, India, or Russia.


This trip includes both tourist and business destinations in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Targeted companies include:

  • Petrobras (oil, gas, and energy industry)
  • Cosan (sugarcane, ethanol)
  • TAM (airline)
  • Natura (natural cosmetics, fragrances, personal hygiene products)
  • Embraer (aircraft manufacturing)
  • Renova Energia (clean energy)

Key information:

  •  Estimated costs:
    • Program fee (8-13 student participants): $2178
    • Program fee (14-18 student participants): $1995
      • 8 nights hotel
      • Ground and air transport in Brazil
      • 2 traditional Brazilian meals
      • Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain tour
    • International airfare (based on BOS – RIO, SP – BOS; 1 layover each way): $1100
    • Visas (for Americans, other nationalities lower): $160
    • Dartmouth Coach RT (Hanover – BOS): $60
    • Immunizations, if desired: $50
    • Meals not in program fee: $350
    • Estimated Total Cost (with 14-18 students): $3700
  • Financial aid can be used
  • Maximum 20 students, minimum 8 (Tuck students only, please)
  • Submit a deposit of $500 (check) to Sal Cania at Woodbury Hall 103 (see office hours below) or $515 (PayPal information below) by 12/12 to hold your spot – no application required.
  • There will be a lottery in the case of over-subscription
  • Itinerary is subject to change
  • Program fee is approximate but not expected to vary by more than US$100
